Senior Buyer

About This Role

Manages complex or high-value purchasing activities and supplier relationships to ensure the timely availability of products and components. Supports inventory optimisation and collaborates with internal teams to meet commercial and operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and negotiate with local and international suppliers
• Manage supplier performance, pricing agreements, and lead time improvement initiatives
• Analyse purchase patterns and forecasts to place timely and cost-effective orders
• Collaborate with planning, sales, and logistics to align procurement with business priorities
• Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure system updates reflect supplier terms
• Support compliance with import/export, regulatory, and company procurement standards
• Mentor junior buyers and provide input into procurement strategy and supplier development

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in a technical or product-driven business
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills
• Familiarity with ERP systems and supply chain workflows
• Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and handle procurement complexity

Beneficial Requirements:

• Exposure to international sourcing, customs processes, or landed cost models
• Relevant tertiary qualification in procurement, supply chain, or engineering
• Experience in electrical, automation, or industrial distribution sectors
